POST-PAGEANT ISSUE – 8 June, 2012

THANK YOU!

What a day and what an incredible achievement by each and every one of you. It was magical to see the vision turn to reality on Sunday 3rd June 2012 and we hope that you are immensely proud of the part you played in making it happen.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for making it such a success. None of it would’ve been possible without your dedication and enthusiasm throughout. All the time and energy that you committed to your planning and preparations made it such a wonderful experience for the millions of people watching you across the world.

We hope that you have wonderful memories of the experience that will stay with you and we would love to see photos and hear stories of your day.

All our thanks and best wishes,

Adrian, Sarah, Dawn, Charlotte and Amy

Every Pageant Picture Tells a Remarkable Story

Last weekend we all witnessed one of the greatest British Celebrations of all time: The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Our 16 photographers at ‘Capture the Event’ took over 15,000 pictures of you, the participants, from a number of special vantage points along the Thames.  Each one of these images reflects a remarkable story, not just the story of each vessel but also of each of you, as many of you experienced an extraordinary passage in just getting to the start of the Pageant.

Editing and uploading these images has taken much longer than expected, not only because there are so few images to be discarded, but also because of the vast quantity of images taken and our desire to identify each vessel.

By the end of this weekend almost all images will have been uploaded and ready to view at: www.riverpageantphotos.com . The prices for individual prints start from £15 (A4), with each photographic print to include an official TDJP caption panel and logo, including the title of your vessel.  Also on offer are our montages with three different options to purchase:

1) Official TDJP highlights montage

2) Personal Montage: placing your vessel at the centre of the official TDJP highlights montage

3) Bespoke Montage: featuring a minimum of three close-up images of your vessel plus the addition of any images that you (or your crew) may have captured - subject to quality and approved content.  We will research the photo gallery for all images of your vessel, create the montage, and then email a ‘proof’ to you (within 20 working days) for your comments and approval.

The montages start at £60 for an A3 size Official Montage, £90 for a Personal Montage and £120 for a Bespoke Montage. These prices reduce significantly for extra copies.

To create the Personal and Bespoke montages, we ask for a £50 deposit, which is fully refundable if we are not able to satisfy you with the number and quality of the photographs captured of your vessel.  To confirm your montage request, please call us at Capture the Event on: 01732 746696 or visit us at: www.riverpageantphotos.com

Olympics: Get Involved…

LOCOG (the Olympic Games organisers) and British Waterways are looking to get boats on the water to enhance the look and feel of the whole Olympic Park during the Games.

They are looking for 10-20 boats to be spread across locations moored in the Park to generate a lot of coverage for waterways and boats.

If you would like your boat to be considered, please read on:

The offer is essentially very secure boat storage as there will be no access to the boat from drop off to pick up. The boat owner will get:

  • A pair of Park tickets at a date of their choice (this is access to the Park and the live site http://www.london2012.com/join-in/live-sites/olympic-park/index.html but not the venues)
  • Certificate from Seb Coe thanking the boat owner
  • Photo opportunities on the “bump in” day
  • Kudos of mooring in the Park and being seen by 3-4 billion people!
  • Insurance cover by LOCOG
  • Day to day management by British Waterways Park operations
  • Travel and other reasonable expenses to and from drop off and pick up

The in and out days proposed are:

1st period: Olympics

  • Bump in W/C 25/06/12
  • Bump Out W/C 13/08/12

2nd Period: Paralympics

  • Bump in W/C 13/08/12
  • Bump Out W/C 17/09/12

Or if it can be left for the whole period

  • W/C 25/06 to W/C 17/09

Please note: maximum dimensions are approx. air draught 3m, draught 2m, beam 4m, length 24m.

If you would like to be considered for this opportunity please contact Jason Leach, British Waterways Head of Olympic Programmes: Jason.Leach@britishwaterways.co.uk

BBC Coverage of the Pageant

We have heard from some of you regarding the coverage of the Pageant on the BBC.  We are currently exploring ways to make available more footage from the day itself, which will focus on the boats themselves, and will be in touch once we know more.
