The Thames Pageant was a unique and inspirational event which will always be associated with The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Even the rain did not suppress the enthusiasm of the immense crowds, which set the tone for the rest of that memorable weekend.

Her Majesty The Queen has expressed her delight with the event, and for the participation and skill of all those involved.

Thank you for contributing so significantly to the Pageant. To bring a thousand boats down the Thames - safely and on time - was a remarkable achievement and a tribute to the skill of the skippers and diligence of the Port of London Authority. It is unlikely that such a fleet will be assembled again in our lifetime.

As you know, the Pageant was funded entirely from private, corporate and charitable sources.  The Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation is a registered charity, and as well as funding the Pageant it supports a number of charitable causes to help disadvantaged young people - and this work will continue as a legacy of the Jubilee celebrations.

The Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation is preparing an internal archive for its personal records.  It may be that you would like to contribute to this with your own photographs and diaries of the event.  We won’t be publicising this material externally but we might choose to include some of your stories and images on our website.
